Appearance
Small rounded leaves in pairs on thin creeping stems. Above water it flowers in blue-violet and white; under water it stays a low green mat with upright shoots.
Keeping
Easy and moderate in pace: medium to strong light, no carbon dioxide required, ordinary feeding. It also grows well above the waterline, which is how it is usually sold. It is still rare in the trade, and rarer still among aquarists.
Placement
The front or middle of the tank, in a group; small enough for a nano tank, and useful on the bank of a paludarium.
Propagation
By cuttings: pieces of the creeping stem root readily.
Cultivars
The same plant with a different look: light, water and care are shared with the species.
