GoldfishCarassius auratus
Common PlatyXiphophorus maculatus
Verdict:with caution
- Behaviour: with caution
- Water: ranges overlap
Why
The shared temperature of 20–22 °C is the lower edge for a platy. A platy (5–7 cm) is noticeably smaller than a goldfish, which grows up to 30 cm and is dangerous for small tankmates.

This is a general estimate: fish of the same species differ in character. Tank volume is given for each species separately — two species together need at least the larger of the two, and usually more.
