Siamese Fighting Fish and Common Platy: can they live together?

Verdict:not recommended

  • Behaviour: not recommended
  • Water: ranges overlap

Why

Platies are brightly coloured and active. A male Siamese fighting fish attacks fish that remind him of a rival, and bright fish may be attacked by mistake, so keeping them together is not recommended.

This is a general estimate: fish of the same species differ in character. Tank volume is given for each species separately — two species together need at least the larger of the two, and usually more.
