The bottom of such a spawning tank should be covered with dark substrate and planted with aquatic moss, where the fish will lay their eggs. When fed a varied diet of live food, such as Artemia nauplii, the fish will spawn throughout their adult lives, laying 5 to 15 eggs daily. The amber-colored eggs, about 1.6 mm in size, should be collected manually and stored for approximately 14 days in a separate small container.
