Appearance
Blades up to 24 cm, from narrowly to broadly ovate, with a deeply heart-shaped base in older plants; leaf stalks can exceed 40 cm; the edge is not wavy or only slightly so. A characteristic vein runs backward from a side vein into the basal lobe of the leaf. It is sometimes stated that the leaves are lighter and softer than in var. barteri. Height 10–40 cm, plant width 10–40 cm.
Keeping
The difficulty is easy — one step above the 'very easy' rating of the species as a whole. Growth slow, light from dim to bright, CO₂ 5–40 mg/l, temperature 22–26 °C.

Tie it to hardscape; suited to a cichlid tank, the background and the midground.
