Care and keeping

Appearance

A collective name for forms of various sizes with elliptic to lanceolate leaves; it is not always possible to separate it clearly from the other varieties. It resembles var. angustifolia, but that one has more elongated blades. Height 10–20 cm, plant width 10–30 cm.

Keeping

Less well known than var. nana, but just as undemanding. Growth very slow. Light from dim to bright, CO₂ 5–40 mg/l, temperature 22–26 °C.

Placement

Tie it to a stone or wood, wedge it between stones, attach it with suckers to the glass, or plant it in the substrate — keep the horizontal stem above the substrate, or it will rot. Midground and foreground, cichlid tanks, nano aquarium.

Trade names

Small plants were imported from Cameroon as 'Anubias minima' and are still labelled that way. 'Anubias lanceolata' is also a synonym, used for larger plants with narrowly lanceolate leaves. 'Anubias kruising' is also placed here.
