Appearance
A rosette of narrow leaves; above water the plant sends up a tall stalk with small flowers arranged in a spiral. In nature it ranges from 10 cm to over a metre and flowers from autumn into winter, even standing in shallow water.
Keeping
It grows in seasonally flooded ground, so it is at home in a paludarium or an open tank with the crown near the surface as much as fully submerged. Medium to strong light and a nutritious substrate suit it; cool water is no problem.

The middle of the tank, or the bank of a paludarium, where it can flower.
Propagation
By young plants that form on the spreading roots, so a single plant becomes a colony.
