Appearance
The stems are densely brownish-red; side shoots often come in pairs at a node, whereas in ordinary hornwort there is usually one per node; the leaves are medium to dark green, usually forked only once. Overall, under the same conditions the plant is more delicate and branches more heavily than ordinary hornwort.
Keeping
Light medium to strong. Very easy, growth very fast, CO₂ 5–40 mg/l, temperature 24–29 °C. Propagation: it breaks apart on its own, by cuttings.
Placement
Background and midground, a spawning plant, floats at the surface; fine-leaved.
Trade names
